Thirdspace supports shelter

Thirdspace Coffee is all about creating a place of community and connection for people.  Being a not-for-profit cafe, allows Thirdspace to creatively engage with the community.  From December 14 - 18th, Thirdspace Coffee did just that, by committing all profits from that week, to a local charity, the Kelowna Women’s Shelter.  The baristas were so excited about this initiative that they joined in by contributing all of their tips from that week as well.

Today, Ken Stober, Carlee Turner, Corey Siewert, Amanda Kovatch and Scott Lanigan were thrilled to present a cheque in the amount of $2,685.43 to Karen Mason and Kathleen Lemieux of the Shelter to support local women and children who use the services.

"At Thirdspace, we believe elevating values, like generosity, strengthens our community,” Scott Lanigan, Third Space’s Chief Experience Officer noted.  “And we believe it has to be simple.  Like knowing, that when you buy a coffee or a sandwich, it will make a difference in someone’s life."

"We’re so grateful to have the ongoing support of community partners like Third Space. Their commitment, and the support of their customers, helps provide a safe refuge, and support services, for women and their children fleeing abuse." said executive director Karen Mason. “When you think about that in the bigger picture and what that means, that’s incredibly powerful.”

The Kelowna Women’s Shelter is in its 35th year serving the community. The Shelter provides emergency transitional housing, counselling and other support and education programs for women and their children who have experienced abuse. The Shelter also operates a Thrift Store where Shelter clients can shop free.
