United Way Pulling For My Community Bus Pull

Continuing in the tradition of building community through building teams, United Way Central & South Okanagan/Similkameen announces the next big thing!

Imagine 8 Superheros pulling a BC Transit bus in competition with 8 other Superheros.  United Way CSO is holding its first annual Pulling For My Community Bus Pull on October 15, 2014 from 1030-1pm at the Queensway bus loop.

“This is a fun way to team build and to show not only your support for the community but to have the possibility of walking away with the inaugural UW CSO Community Cup”, says Shelley Gilmore, Executive Director of UW CSO. “UW used to do the Plane Pull but we have changed that up, moved the event into the heart of the city and are running it over the lunch hour to make it easier for businesses and individuals to participate,” she adds.

Brought to you by the UW CSO, City of Kelowna and BC Transit, Pulling For My Community is a team event where teams of 8 will pull a BC Transit bus in competition to see who can cross the finish line first.  Along with other teams, the goal of the event is to raise awareness and funds to support the partnerships in our Community between the United Way and many front line agencies providing critical services for children, youth, adults and seniors.

“Our community needs the United Way,” comments Jim Patterson, United Way Campaign CoChair and Executive Director of Business Development for the City of Kelowna, “the unique funding model of the community fund at the United Way ensures that many agencies are sustainable. Our community can use this vehicle of the community fund to leverage donations to truly make a difference right in our own backyard.”

Registration will commence Thursday, September 25.  Visit www.unitedwaycso.com for the link to get started.  Register your team quickly to ensure your spot - space is limited

Teams of 8 need to pledge a minimum of $75 per person to qualify to participate.

Prizes, fun, great team building opportunity, food trucks, all in the name of Building Community!  Come out and be an Everyday Hero!
