An opportunity from our experiences

In our lives we are given the opportunity to experience certain situations that serve as valuable lessons on our path to find ourselves. Often times we can find ourselves swayed by the negative fear-based emotion that leads us to act a certain way. Only until we can begin the practice of exuding pure love in every aspect of our day-to-day lives will we begin to find harmony and balance within.

I have personally dedicated the remainder of my year to this very practice, which does not have a completion date, as it will continue to be my journey. In a world that is so caught up in being ‘busy’ I have neglected the importance of enjoying every breath and absorbing the goodness that generates from it.

Perhaps it is within a practice of pure love that we can begin to shift self-judgment, fear and all the negative thought patterns we allow ourselves to produce daily. When we examine our society and view our world as a community of its own, it is evident that our commitment to positive thought and outcome can overpower the most horrendous disasters.

For example, the most recent miracle of Chilean miners rescued from the depths of the Earth was a feat which could have ended in tragedy and despair. Not only can we credit the inspiration of many to create the physical tools to rescue these men, but the country and world that watched and gave their purest love to see the brave men emerge from the mine. It was global desire of hope and love for the men and their families that pushed for a solution. Our commitment to a global community and concern for people we have never met demonstrates the potential we, as a species, can accomplish with unconditional love.

It would be foolish of me to state that there will no longer be disasters in the world and there will continue to be times or crises in our personal lives. With the advancement of technologies and in communications, we have created a community over our vast planet that can be evolved with the understanding of the purest form of energy: love.

The recent tragedies of suicide that have been experienced in the United States, specifically of 18-year-old Tyler Clementi should not breed anger and judgment. Mr. Clementi, who felt utter despair potentially due to the lack of support of his chosen sexuality, could have been saved with the extension of love. However, we can only thank them for the lessons they have taught- and that is to not act in fear of what is different. Only until we allow ourselves to love without limitation, judgment and fear will we eliminate this hopelessness that causes such inner despair.

Should we choose not to learn from the lessons we experience in life, the messages will become more intense until they are so loud you cannot silence them. Life is truly beautiful when your mind shifts to this way of thinking because every moment is an opportunity to grow and evolve.

Today is a new day, one that has never been experienced before, and yesterday is the past, which cannot be changed. All we have is the now and the only thing you can control is you. As a society let's become dedicated to the power that is within us to create the most positive results.

Examples of love and change are all around us - but like in every lesson, you must be willing to open your eyes to see your mind to learn, and heart to love.
