Kelowna-Lake Country Liberal candidate, Diana Cabott, was surprisingly upbeat despite finishing a distant third in Tuesday's federal election.
Cabott finished behind incumbent Conservative MP, Ron Cannan and NDP candidate, Tish Lakes.
She garnered just under 15% of the vote, compared to 25.8% by Liberal candidate, Vern Nielsen two years ago.
"I don't think anything went wrong. It's been a Conservative area for 40 years. I had no reason to expect it would be handed to me on a plate," says Cabott.
"I understand I've got to put my time in, I've got to work hand and I'm prepared to do that. I will be your MP and I will be your Liberal MP, just not this time."
Cabott says her team was not disappointed, but rather were celebrating the work they put in.
She says she was afraid Harper and the Conservatives would win a majority, and they were successful in stopping that.
"I believe Mr. Dion will be a tremendous leader. I was looking forward to working with him and hope to do so in the future."
Cabott adds she expects to be campaigning again sooner, rather than later.
"I think he'll (Harper) be more frustrated now and I don't think his government will last very long."
