It was a night of triumph and tragedy for Green Party candidate, Angela Reid.
The Kelowna-Lake Country candidate was thrilled with her showing, but at the same time, lamented the fact the party was again unable to elect a member nationally.
"It went very, very well. I'm thrilled. The results so far are exceeding my expectations," says Reid.
"I'm disappointed of course that Elizabeth(Green Party leader Elizabeth May) didn't win Nova Scotia, but she came in a very strong second, over 30%."
Reid says Tuesday's showing will send a very strong message to all of the parties that people want green policies.
"Lots of people heard Elizabeth speak and it changed their minds a little. In general, whether we were their first or second choice, people are really interested in the Green Party."
In Kelowna-Lake Country, Reid finished with nearly 14% of the popular vote.
Despite finishing fourth, she was able to garner nearly double the votes from two years ago.
"We spent more money, we had more signs, we had more volunteers and literature. We essentially doubled up on everything and it's clearly showing in the results."
Reid will now turn her attention to the local scene, where she is also a candidate for Kelowna City Council.
