Top fall trends from NYC

Every year, I do much of my fall/winter buying in NYC. The selection of merchandise matches our Canadian winter just perfect. (Not to mention that New York is a major fashion capital!)

The booths were packed with color this year. A treat for the eyes after years of black, grey and brown.

Burgundy and eggplant are the new black this year! Yahoo. I know black looks great on all body types, but come on...winter is long enough. Let’s enjoy some color!

Leopard print makes a come back yet AGAIN! Or maybe it never did depart……it's huge this year. Past years we’ve seen it in handbags, scarves, headbands - small touches to spruce up our look. This year animal print is dominating! Get yourself a pair of skinny jeans in leopard print, or a chunky sweater, or pencil skirt and strut with style. Let your animal instincts flow. Leather and suede will be seen in part on clothing with edging or insets, or in full with a motorbike style jacket or a pencil skirt in leather (just like what I rocked in the 80’s).

Jeans are not “blue” jeans anymore. Jeans are wearing a disguise of colors, patterns and textures. Python, leopard, floral print. The basic colors are eggplant, forest green, mustard, rust, teal and chocolate! Colored Jeans are appearing a little dressier and will be paired with cropped blazers or blouses for an appropriate office look.

Blouses with embellished collars are hot this season. Pretty, flowy blouses with a touch of hardware on a Peter Pan collar. A perfect mix of soft rock with heavy metal. Dresses are super feminine with the collars from days gone by, and the length getting a little longer. (I know many customers will be thankful for that - the dresses were so short for a few years.)

Accessorize with a cross body leather satchel and a felt fedora with leather trim. Hats will be main stream this season.

We hope you will stop by and see all the fashions arriving from New York City! You won’t be disappointed!

Be sure to like “frakas boutique” on Facebook, where you will see photos of the new stock as it arrives. Check out our blog and webstore at www.frakas.ca.
