Kick off to Summer
Jun 5, 2012 / 5:00 am
Beach season is quickly approaching. The time of year when we get tourists shopping in their bathing suits. As an Okanaganer we don’t even notice the small amount of clothing some people are wearing while shopping in nearby businesses or walking the streets of Kelowna. I often think of what the reaction would be if we saw a scantily clad beach goer in public, in Saskatoon!!!
Fashion at the beach has certainly changed over the course of the 20th century. From the huge body coverings to the tiny string bikinis we see at Kelowna’s beaches today. This season’s must haves for the beach include some colorful flip-flops and a light dress in a bright hue of yellow, orange or lime green.

Cutoffs have made their way on the runways for summer fashion. Distressed cutoffs in light wash denim or white denim, topped with a colorful tank top and funky floppy brim hat. Summer themed jewelry becomes readily available with coral and turquoise, starfish pendants, seashell rings and more.
Be colorful, have fun and be safe.
