Jambo!

Fall 2011 - Love it! This fall is the year that greets us with plenty of color. A year that we truly do see the colors of fall in the stores. Instead of black, grey and brown, the tribal and ethnic influence this year brings us beautiful shades of rust, burnt orange, mustard and egg plant. The textures are fabulous, with faux fur, sheer-ling, suede, and plenty of thick knits. Hem lines are longer, sweaters layered and asymmetrical. Ponchos and throws are so popular this year. Jackets and coats are poncho inspired with many of the coats showing two-tone, or mixed fabrics as well as leather collars and belts on a knit or wool cape.

Vests continue to be layered over tops this season. Vests made of faux fur, sheer-ling, crochet, suede, and a mix of all.

Feathers adorn many accessory pieces, showing up on headbands, belts, and handbags. Feather earrings of all shapes, colors and sizes.

I am off on my journey to Africa this month. Great timing, seeing as fall fashion is truly African inspired this year. The stores are stocked full to the rafters before I take off. I will be volunteering my time in three rural Kenyan schools, teaching children business start-up. In Kenya, school is paid for up until 8th grade, and then many families (most families in the rural areas) cannot afford to further educate their children. The children are then responsible for themselves and must try to make a living. Frakas has donated 250 school bags to these children, and will be holding a fundraising /shopping event on Nov 25th. All you have to do is shop, and with each item purchased, Frakas will donate an item to school children in Africa. One for one! Please stop in and see the children that will be receiving the donations. We will be playing a video from my visit to Africa.

To see all the beautiful fall fashions, be sure to check out www.frakas.ca

I will be adding some pictures and thoughts from Africa to facebook. Check in at “Frakas Boutique”
