Actor James Gandolfini dead at 51

James Gandolfini, who starred as Tony Soprano on “The Sopranos,” has died while on vacation in Italy, HBO confirmed Wednesday.

Galdolfini is believed to have suffered a heart attack. He was 51 years old.

The actor was in Sicily to attend the 59th Taormina Film Festival this week, where he was schceduled to appear on stage for a one-on-one conversation with Italian director Gabriele Muccino.

Apart from his critically acclaimed role on "The Sopranos," Gandolfini appeared in several films, including True Romance, Get Shorty and, more recently, Where the Wild Things Are.

He won numerous awards over his career, including three Emmys, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award.
