A 'Miracle' for the holidays from KAS
Rediscover the magic of believing that wishes can come true and miracles still happen in Meredith Willson’s musical production of one of the best loved of all holiday classic tales, "Miracle On 34th Street - The Musical”.
The Kelowna Actors Studio presents this heartwarming story by Valentine Davies, originally written for the 1940's movie of the same name. It is brilliantly brought to life in a fully staged musical production which includes 34 cast members including pirates, tin soldiers, music box ballerinas, clowns and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on stage!
Could the department store Santa be the real thing? Kris Kringle takes on the cynics among us in this musical adaptation of the popular holiday favourite. A white-bearded gentleman claiming to be the real Santa Claus brings about a genuine miracle, spreading a wave of love throughout New York City, fostering camaraderie between Macy’s and Gimbel’s Department Stores and convincing Doris, a divorced, cynical single mother and her sombre daughter Susan to believe. Kris alters the lives of those he encounters including, Fred, an attorney and Doris’s love struck neighbour; Mrs. Sawyer, the loony store psychologist; Miss Shellhammer, a wacky toy department manager and the entire state of New York that Santa Claus is no myth.
Filled with humour and spectacle, Miracle on 34th Street is a joyful treat for families during the holiday season.
“Kelowna is just eating up Miracle on 34th Street - The Musical,” said Randy Leslie The Artistic Managing Director of the Kelowna Actors Studio. “The show is selling like crazy and we have Saturday and Sunday matinees too!”
Featuring an imaginative set, stylish costumes of the period, fun choreography and the wonderful sound of Meredith Willson’s fabulous lyrics and score including “It’s Beginning To Look A lot Like Christmas”, “My Wish”, “Here’s Love”, “Pine Cones and Holly Berries, “That Man Over There” and “My State, My Kansas”, this holiday family plum of a show is sure to leave every audience believing in love and miracles once again.
Performances run Wednesday to Sunday with both a Saturday and Sunday Matinee but tickets are selling FAST. For tickets or more information on this production or the upcoming season call 250-862-2867 or visit www.KelownaActorsStudio.com.
