David Rosin is planning to make waffles while on a bus.
The guitar player for the B.C. based punk-rock group Hedley says one of the ways he plans to kill time between shows on the group's upcoming tour is to make waffles on the tour bus.
Hedley is launching a Canada-wide tour to promote their newest album, 'The Show Must Go,' which they released just before Christmas.
“I'm stoked to be on tour again. It's about time, we're all bored. It's great that we are starting the tour in Penticton because I have family in Kelowna and some of the other band members also have family and friends in the Okanagan, so it'll be nice to start off with that kind of crowd,” says Rosin.
He says this tour comes with more pressure then previous ones the group has done.
“We've been doing smaller venues up to this point and finally, three records in, we are up to hockey arenas! Every time we go out, it seems things get bigger and bigger and we try to add to it every time. There will be fire indoors, we are taking a cue from Nickelback, but we are doing it in our own way.”
Rosin says this is the first time the tour has really been “theirs.”
“We have Faber Drive, Stereos and Fifi Dobson coming with us, but this is the first time it's really been our tour, where we get to bring people out, so that's more pressure because we're like the boss. It's like being the super at an apartment building. The lady in 21B always needs something!”
He says their preparation style is a combination of boy-scout preparedness and a bit of the unknown and unexpected.
“That's good because it won't be the exact same show night after night.”
Hedley's most recent performance was at the closing ceremonies of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
“We're happy we can finally talk about the Closing Ceremonies. We found out only a month or so ago that we could do it and we didn't know who else was going to be in the show. VANOC and the people who ran the show were very secretive. So showing up at rehearsal and seeing Simple Plan, Nickelback and Neil Young, that was incredible. Seeing him stand there on that stage during dress rehearsal brought chills to our arms.”
Hedley, with guests Fifi Dobson, the Stereos and Faber Drive, will be performing at the South Okanagan Events Centre, March 22.
Tickets are available at the SOEC Box Office, the Valley First Tix website, the Wine Country Visitors centre or at 1 (877) 763-2849.
