Everyone and their dog’s were tuned into the Yankees-BoSox game last night, but for the few that weren’t, NBC premiered the new reality show, The Biggest Loser. It's very similar to other competition reality shows except this competition involves losing weight. On "Survivor," a contestant's torch is extinguished when they are eliminated, but on "The Biggest Loser," their refrigerator light is turned off.
The first person to get their light switched off was Dana, a 21-year-old receptionist from Nashville. In the first weigh-in, she dropped just five pounds, compared to most of the other contestants who lost more than ten. The team that collectively loses the least amount of weight at the end of each week is forced to send a contestant home.
Tom Cruise threw out the ceremonial first pitch, but Alex Cabrera was the biggest star of Game 3 of the Japan Series. Cabrera hit a grand slam in the seventh inning Tuesday at Seibu Dome to lift the Pacific League champion Seibu Lions to a 10-8 win over the Chunichi Dragons and a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Cruise is in Tokyo to promote his film "Collateral. "Tom", who is hugely popular in Japan, threw a pitch that was nearly 3 feet wide of the strike zone.
A Fox News Channel producer who filed a sex harassment lawsuit against talk show host Bill O'Reilly filed new accusations Tuesday, alleging she has lost her job because she complained to Fox about her alleged mistreatment. A lawyer for O'Reilly and Fox denied that Andrea Mackris has been fired or retaliated against in any way.
TRACEY GOLD made a court appearance in Ventura County, California, yesterday to plead not guilty to felony child endangerment and felony DUI charges. Prosecutors say the former Growing Pains star was behind the wheel of the family SUV when it tumbled down a freeway embankment on September 3rd. Her husband and their three kids were in the vehicle. Her husband and two of the children suffered minor injuries. The 35-year-old Gold remains free on bail and has to refrain from alcohol. She returns to court November 19th.
