Britney Spears Weds

Ooops! BRITNEY SPEARS did it again! The 22-year-old pop star married her fiancé, 26-year-old dancer KEVIN FEDERLINE, in a private ceremony in Studio City, California on Saturday night. The singer's Jive Records spokesperson, SONIA MUCKLE, told AP simply, quote, "She did marry him yesterday." She did not offer any further details.

The wedding ceremony took place at 7:30 p.m. at the home of the tailor who created the bridal party's tuxedos, according to Star Magazine's web site.

According to Star, Spears and Federline's parents believed they were going to an "engagement dinner," and were surprised by the impromptu wedding. The magazine reported that only 20 immediate family members attended the ceremony. Britney wore a strapless white dress designed by MONIQUE L'HUILLIER, with a long veil and tiara. The singer reportedly carried a bouquet of pink and white roses, while her bridesmaids and maid of honor wore burgundy dresses and carried red roses.

Star Magazine also reported that the couple's first dance was to Journey's City By The Bay, and the menu for the reception included chicken fingers, crab cakes, ribs and Waldorf salad.

This was the second marriage for Spears in nine months. On January 2nd, the singer tied the knot with her high school sweetheart Jason Alexander in a surprise wedding in Las Vegas. That marriage was annulled 55 hours later.

Spears and Federline announced their engagement in June. Federline has two children with former girlfriend Shar Jackson.

The Emmy Awards have often been criticized for honoring the same old shows year after year, but last night's 56th annual Primetime Emmy Awards didn't have that problem. The gold was distributed to a slew of first-time winners, most notably The Sopranos, which won its first-ever trophy for Best Drama Series. That makes it the first cable series ever to win in that particular category. But backstage, Edie Falco, told reporters she didn't think being named Outstanding Drama was such a big deal.

Other first-time winners included the ratings-challenged Fox sitcom Arrested Development, which was named Best Comedy Series, and also won prizes for writing and directing. It beat out such favorites as Everybody Loves Raymond, Sex & The City and Will & Grace for the best comedy series prize. Backstage, star Jason Bateman said he hopes the Emmy win will help with his show's poor ratings.

Although SARAH JESSICA PARKER has been an Emmy winner in the past, as a producer, this time around, she won her first-ever Emmy as Best Lead Actress in A Comedy Series for Sex & the City - it was the last year she was eligible for the award. Backstage, Parker was asked if she was relieved that she finally won.

The Practice star JAMES SPADER was another surprise first-time winner - he was named Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series, beating out favorites James Gandolfini and Martin Sheen, among others. During his acceptance speech, James Spader of The Practice complimented the audience on their attire.

The Sopranos stars MICHAEL IMPERIOLI and DREA DE MATTEO also took home their first Emmys. Frasier stars DAVID HYDE PIERCE and KELSEY GRAMMER, and West Wing star ALLISON JANNEY were the only major acting category winners who'd taken home Emmys before.
