The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly announces the launch of our 2017/18 Theatre Series. This series consists of five diverse, high quality shows from across North America.

The series begins on October 18 with Nashville Hurricane. Masterful storyteller and captivating entertainer, Chase Padgett delivers a virtuosic performance in his sequel to Six Guitars. This one-man play features a flurry of distinct characters, blazing guitar work, and formidable tunes such as ‘Devil Went Down to Georgia’.

The Arts Club Theatre takes the stage on November 8 with Mom’s the Word III – Nest ½ Empty, the third installment of the hilariously real comedy series. Kids are grown, marriages have evolved, and their bodies are backfiring – four real moms face the next chapter of their lives in embarrassing, hysterical detail. Filled with insights, secrets and deeply touching moments, laugh along with their personal histories in this honest and side-splitting celebration of motherhood.

Our Theatre series continues January 30 with Arts Club Theatre’s Misery, the chilling thriller based on the novel by Stephen King. The story follows the character of Paul Sheldon, a successful romance novelist, as he’s kidnapped by a rabid fan. Forced to write for his freedom, and his life, this edge-of-your-seat performance will leave you out of breath and wanting more.

On February 10, the Society welcomes Arts Club Theatre’s passionate new musical Onegin. Adapted from the poem by Pushkin and opera by Tchaikovsky, BC’s own Amiel Gladstone takes on the book, music and lyrics with Canadian musician Veda Hille. Set in Russia, a young man arrives in a new community and stirs passion and jealousy, sparking both romance and dueling! The winner of several awards and subject to countless stunning reviews, Onegin brings a timeless story, rich costumes, and memorable music to the stage.

Our 2017/18 Theatre Series concludes on March 17 with Lucas Myers and Pilot co Pilot Theatre’s production of Campground. This one-man murder-mystery with music has audiences gathering evidence to solve the case of the missing camper. Lucas Myers’ trademark brand of humor and character work brings a campground to life in this vivid comedy.
