Lindsay Lohan settles debts

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly settled her ex-fiance's housing debts and moved out of the property they shared together.

The Mean Girls star lived in a $4.4 million luxury apartment in upscale Knightsbridge, London, with former lover, Russian businessman Egor Tarabasov.

The couple, who became engaged in April, called time on the romance after violent rows in July. They initially agreed to split the $3,700 a-week rent.

Lawyers acting on behalf of the landlord issued the actress with a demand for $97,000 in missed rent, and sources tell the Daily Mirror Lohan was threatened with a petition for her bankruptcy if she failed to pay.

The 12-month tenancy agreement, which had a six-month break clause, was in Lohan's name, but it is understood her ex-boyfriend, Russian property tycoon Egor Tarabasov, paid a three-month deposit upfront in full.

Lawyers were due to petition for her bankruptcy on 8 November if she failed to pay, but the 30-year-old actress has reportedly managed to get the money together and pay off the debt.

MailOnline.com reports she has now packed her bags and moved out of the luxury property, and is now residing at the five-star Blakes hotel nearby, paying upwards of $500-a-night.

It has been a weekend of U.K. drama for Lohan, who was forced to apologize to officials in an English town for failing to keep her promise to switch on their Christmas lights.

The actress posted a video on Twitter saying she couldn't attend Thursday's (24Nov16) event in Kettering because of "my busy schedule".

She previously upset locals in June, when she confessed she had no idea where Kettering was.

The incident prompted lawmaker Philip Hollobone to invite Lohan to switch on the town's festive lights.

Kettering Borough Council chief David Cook has accepted Lindsay's apology, stating: "We appreciate how hard she and her team tried to make this work and we were delighted to get a video message wishing us well."
