The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO) is pleased to partner with Bumbershoot Theatre for the OSO’s annual family matinee performance to bring families Hansel and Gretel featuring guest artists the Okanagan Children’s Choir.
The family matinee takes place on Saturday, December 3rd in Kelowna with performances at 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Tickets are $23 for adults; $19.00 for seniors and $14.00 for youth, or a family four-pack for $62.00 and are by phone through Select Your Tickets at the Rotary Centre for the Arts or phone 250.717.5304 or online via www.okanagansymphony.com.
“Bring the whole family to this one hour performance with beautiful music by Humperdinck,” comments Rosemary Thomson, Music Director, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. “By turns playful and poignant, this well- loved story is brought to life with a wonderful quartet of singers, the Okanagan Children’s Choir and the OSO.”
Hansel and Gretel is a well-known fairy tale of German origin, recorded by the Brothers Grimm and published in 1812. Hansel and Gretel are a young brother and sister kidnapped by a witch living deep in the forest in a house constructed of cake and confectionery. The two children save their lives by outwitting her.
“This is a going to be a great performance for families with children aged six through ten and we encourage the entire family to come and enjoy this performance where we bring the story of Hansel and Gretel to life,” states Thomson. “We are excited to be working in collaboration with Bumbershoot Theatre and the Okanagan Children’s Chorus to bring this magical story to life.”
The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra is the third largest professional Symphony Orchestra in British Columbia; entertaining residents of the Okanagan Valley and visitors from around the globe with symphonic music since 1960.
