Kelowna star on the rise

A Kelowna native is taking Hollywood by storm.

Eighteen-year-old Taylor Hickson can be seen co-starring on SyFy’s new post-apocalyptic thriller series “Aftermath.”

The show centres on couple Karen (Anne Heche) and Joshua Copeland (James Tupper) and their children Dana, Brianna and Matt, who must battle for survival after civilization comes to an apocalyptic end, triggered by massive storms, meteor strikes, earthquakes and plague – and the rise of supernatural creatures.

Hickson plays Brianna, a disaffected loner who is kidnapped and forced to live on her own to survive.

Born and raised in Kelowna, Hickson's career began at the age of 12, singing alongside her father on stages across B.C.

As her passion for music deepened, she began writing her own material and graduated a year early to focus on her career. She fell into acting at 16, after a relative encouraged her to audition for an agency.

She landed roles right out the gate, including a part in the psychological thriller “Blackway” opposite Anthony Hopkins, Ray Liotta, and Julia Stiles. She then booked a role in the international hit “Deadpool” opposite Ryan Reynolds.

That was followed by a lead role in Canadian indie film  “Hunting Pignut. The film centres around Bernice (Hickson) a 15-year old runaway trying to uncover the mystery of her father’s disappearance.
