Lohan visits Syrian refugees

Lindsay Lohan shrugged off a nasty finger injury to help rehome a Syrian refugee family in Turkey on Tuesday (04Oct16).

The Mean Girls star has been holidaying in the country and was rushed to hospital after nearly severing her finger in a boating accident over the weekend (01-02Oct16).

However Lindsay, 30, showed few signs of suffering in the wake of her injury as she visited refugee families in Sultanbeyli, a suburb of Turkey's capital, Istanbul.

According to editors at Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, the star was returning to see those she had met in a separate visit to the area last month (Sep16) and helped one family move into their new home.

"I visited earlier today, I came back here again," she told the publication. "We artists are trying to draw attention to the drama in Syria using social media"

After her visit the star posted a picture on Instagram of her with a young Syrian girl with the caption, "Re-united with my little princess with her beautiful family in her new home."

As part of her visit the actress, who recently broke off her engagement to Russian construction heir Egor Tarabasov, also had a meeting with Sultanbeyli's mayor Huseyin Keskin before she left.

Lindsay is one of a number of Hollywood stars to take up the cause of Syrian refugees, with Jude Law, Benedict Cumberbatch and Idris Elba among those who've called for world leaders to help those fleeing Syria's brutal civil war.

In February, the British acting trio signed a letter addressed to then U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron demanding he help migrants living in camps in Calais and Dunkirk in France.

The three actors helped compose and signed the letter after visiting the notorious "jungle" camp in Calais.
