Brad Pitt will not be attending the premiere of his new IMAX movie Voyage of Time following his recent marriage break-up.

The Fury star's estranged wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from him last week (19Sep16) after two years of marriage and the fall-out from their split is clearly having a professional impact, as the 52-year-old is choosing not to make an appearance on the red carpet when the documentary he narrates makes its debut on Wednesday (28Sep16).

Praising director Terrence Malick's work on the project, Pitt has released a statement to Access Hollywood explaining his reasons for staying away.

"Terrence's Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time," he writes. "I'm very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I'm currently focused on my family situation and don't want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see."

Jolie's decision to leave Pitt, the father of her six children, shocked the world, including some of the former couple's closest friends and loved ones, like her father Jon Voight.

When asked on Tuesday morning (27Sep16) if he thought there was a possibility the estranged spouses would reconcile, Voight noted he along with other family and friends are hoping for the best.

"I don't know...," Jon told X17 Online. "We're all saying our little prayers, and wanting to be of help."

However, an insider tells In Touch Weekly there is a huge chance their marriage could be saved, with reports suggesting Pitt is doing everything in his power to reconnect with Jolie.

"(Brad) wants to work things out privately and amicably," the source explains.
