September 24th will welcome the first Okanagan Symphony Orchestra fundraiser in Penticton in many years at the Penticton Art Gallery and Ikeda Japanese Garden.
Music and Art and All That Jazz, is an evening event celebrating our local wine and art and will take place from 5pm-8pm on Saturday, September 24th. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased in person or by phone through the Penticton Art Gallery 250-493-2928 or online at www.okanagansymphony.com or 855.763.7544.
Guests will embrace a creative and unique blending of art and music. Local musicians and members of the Okanagan Symphony will showcase the world of jazz music and local visual artists will create paintings inspired by the music they’re hearing. The paintings will be auctioned at the end of the evening with the proceeds benefiting the artists as well as the gallery and the symphony.
“The evening will engage all the senses. A variety of tasty bites will be prepared by Black Iron Grill, Lunessense Winery, Poplar Grove Winery and Pentage Winery will present outstanding examples of their vintages as well as The Cannery Brewery will offer its unique beverages,” comments Tracey Read, president Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. “We are excited to have this fundraiser for the first time in Penticton, building on the success of a similar event that we host in Kelowna each July; it’s going to be a lovely evening enjoying the beautiful space, eating tasty bites, enjoying our Okanagan wine and beer and making new friends.”
The organizing committee has gathered some impressive silent auction items including a painting of Leonard Camplin, a former conductor of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra.
The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra is the third largest professional Symphony Orchestra in British Columbia; entertaining residents of the Okanagan Valley and visitors from around the globe with symphonic music since 1960.
