Brad Pitt shocked by Brexit

Brad Pitt is still reeling from Britain's decision to exit the European Union.

Brits went to the polls in June (16) and stunned the world by voting to leave the EU in what has become known as Brexit, and the movie star, who was shooting Allied in the U.K. in the run-up to the big decision, admits he was one of those shocked by the outcome of the referendum.

"I never thought it would happen," he tells T magazine's Fall Men's Fashion issue, revealing he's now worried Americans will shock the world when they vote in November (16) - by electing Donald Trump as the new U.S. president.

"I can't bring myself to think that Trump will be in charge," he adds. "In the simplest terms, what brings us together is good, and what separates us is bad... Coming from Oklahoma, southern Missouri, which leans more toward a Trump voice, I try to understand it.

"It's also in our DNA. Most Americans don't have time to watch CNN and Fox and Al Jazeera (news channels). They're trying to make the rent, get the kids fed, they're tired when they get home and they want to forget about everything.

"So suddenly, when this voice comes in - and it doesn't have to be a voice of substance - saying he's fed up with all of this, that's the part that hooks into the DNA. A Trump supporter is fighting against just about everything."

But, like many people opposed to the property tycoon, Fight Club star Brad doesn't understand a lot of what Trump is saying at campaign rallies and debates: "What does he even mean (by saying), 'Take our country back?' Would someone please explain that to me...? Where'd it go?"

Republican nominee Trump will face off against Democrat Hillary Clinton at the U.S. polls this winter (16).
