Must see comedy at KCT

Train Wreck Comedy and KeyNote Productions present one of North America’s top stand-up comedians, Darryl Lenox and his new 20/20 tour to the Kelowna Community Theatre on Friday April 22, 2016. After years of stand-up comedy success, Darryl Lenox reached a point in his life where he was tired of waiting. Lenox decided to put everything he had into shooting his own TV special and releasing it to the world.

The special was called Darryl Lenox: Blind Ambition and it was the first hour-long stand-up special ever to appear on the Starz television network. The positive reviews of his special and accompanying album soon followed. Stagetime Magazine named his CD Blind Ambition “one of the Top 5 Comedy Albums of 2013,” joining Louis CK, Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro, and the late Patrice O’Neal. He soon was invited to appear on Conan and was interviewed by Marc Maron on an episode of Maron’s hugely popular WTF podcast - both to rave reviews.

The title, Blind Ambition, was fitting, as anyone who has experienced Lenox’s insightful comedy knows that he hasn’t let his visual impairment stand in the way of his becoming one of the most popular comedians in the country. Living with a visual impairment has refined his perspective, allowing him to cut through audience preconceptions, discard self-pity, and deliver pitch-perfect repartee that leave audiences spellbound and sore from laughter. People are clearly getting it and clamouring for more, and the reviewers are eagerly spreading the word.

Darryl grew up in Las Vegas and lived in Seattle, Los Angeles and Vancouver, for several years before making New York City his permanent home. Prior to his debut on Starz, Darryl has been seen on A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” BET’s “Comic View,” “Best of BET’s Comic View Special,” “Best of Just for Laugh’s Comedy Festival New Year’s Eve Special,” Comedy Central’s “Jamie Foxx’s Laffa Polooza,” and Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham.” He has performed at numerous comedy festivals and has also appeared on CBC’s hit show The Debaters.

General ticket sales for Darryl Lenox 20/20 Tour go on sale Friday March 4, 2016 at 10:00am. Tickets are available through www.selectyourtickets.com, in person at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050
