Brown was full of arrogance

Chris Brown has admitted he was an "a**hole" and "full of arrogance" during his younger years.

The 26-year-old star - who was convicted in 2009 for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna - didn't used to care about his errors because he knew he had plenty of money, but he now insists he has learnt from his troubled past.

He said: "People make mistakes, I've made mistakes, I've judged people who made mistakes, and they judge me back.

"The best part about it is me having to learn. I think I had a great time, like I didn't have a great time at all, but it was a great lesson for me to learn. I thank God he had something bigger for me to do.

"The mindset I was in when I was younger, it was full of arrogance like, Yeah I'm an a**hole like, so what, f*** it, I got money.' "

Brown became a father for the first time when his daughter Royalty, 18 months, was born but it was only reported in March that the little one, whose mother is model Nia Guzman, was his child.

The 'Beautiful People' hitmaker admits "loves" being a father and while he has been in the wrong on several occasions, he doesn't think he gets the credit he deserves for his charitable side.

Speaking to NOTION Magazine, he added: "People talk about me being in gangs and affiliated, but they don't talk about the nice things I do like bring 5,000 sneakers to Crenshaw high school South-Central or Campanella park or different neighborhoods that are in the inner cities."

Brown's full interview appears in NOTION Magazine's Issue 71, out on December 18, of which he is one of four cover stars.
