Man jailed for leaking album

Adi Lederman has been jailed for leaking Madonna's album online.

The 39-year-old former contestant of Israel's version of 'American Idol' is set to spend 14 months in prison and pay a $4000 fine, after citing the 56-year-old singer as a victim, as he confessed to computer trespassing and infringement of privacy and property rights.

According to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column, a spokesperson for Tel Aviv Court said: ''The ease with which crimes such as this can be committed by those who have skills in the field, such as the accused, require an appropriate punitive response that has a deterrent and uncompromising message.''

In December, unfinished tracks were leaked before the release of Madonna's 'Rebel Heart' album and Adi was arrested a month later, as police suspected him of selling songs he had stolen through hacking.

The 'Hung Up' hitmaker said she was ''profoundly grateful'' he'd been arrested at the time.

She shared: ''I am profoundly grateful to the FBI, the Israeli Police investigators and anyone else who helped lead to the arrest of this hacker. I deeply appreciate my fans who have provided us with pertinent information and continue to do so regarding leaks of my music. Like any citizen, I have the right to privacy.

''This invasion into my life -- creatively, professionally, and personally remains a deeply devastating and hurtful experience, as it must be for all artists who are victims of this type of crime.''
