Divas to hit the stage

The divas from Femme Fatale will be strutting their stuff this weekend at Sapphire Lounge.

The burlesque dance group, produced and trained by Oranj Fitness owner Tina Mandl will perform to hits from Cher, Aretha Franklin, Madonna and Janet Jackson, among others.

The training and performance group is made up of ladies of all shapes and sizes, ages, dance styles and abilities, says Mandl.  

"To truly be sexy, flirtatious, happy and free, you need to feel it first, and we will show you how," she said.

The group was created to give every woman a safe, fun place to be creative, and show her sexy side. It has grown from nine members to 35 in just over a year, and its shows have sold out most performances.

Mandl, who recently purchased the Oranj studio from Sheila Chutskoff travelled to Toronto with her to make a franchising pitch on the popular CBC TV show Dragons Den. It's scheduled to air this fall.

Doors open Friday at 9 p.m. and showtime is 9:30-11 p.m.

On Saturday, there are two shows – 7 and 9 p.m.
