As we all get excited for warmer weather and sunshine the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO) is celebrating with two separate performances in March.
“EXOTIC FLAVOURS” is a concert that is a celebration of music that is truly international. Every toe will be tapping throughout this tuneful evening as the OSO performs with guest artist Quartetto Gelato and brings virtuosity and a great sense of adventureto a program from Cypsy Czardas, through Piazzola Tangos, Italian folk songs and Russian Dances. Concert opens in Vernon on Thursday, March 5th at 7:00pm (doors open 6:00pm) with an additional performance Friday March 6th at 8:00pm (doors open at 7:00pm) in Kelowna.
“We are really excited to welcome our guest artists Quaretto Gelato to our stage next month as we celebrate the coming of spring in our valley,” comments Rosemary Thomson, Music Director, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. “What better way to celebrate than with lively tunes that will make you want to get up and dance in the isles. Ticketing info can be found at www.okanagansymphony.com.
March also showcases the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra’s annual family matinee performance. “YOUR STORY AT THE SYMPHONY” features eight stories from the OSO story writing contest held in the fall of 2014 that were selected as winners. The stories show the wonderful imagination of children’s creativity. They tell tales of pirates, monsters, and haunted houses, as well as magic trees and hockey players. Each of the stories are being brought to life by narrator Colin deBoucier and illustrated musically with the OSO conducted by Rosemary Thomson.
“YOUR STORY AT THE SYMPHONY” has one performance, Saturday, March 7th beginning at 2pm (doors open at 1pm) at the Kelowna Community Theatre. Tickets are Adult $20, Senior $15, Youth $12 or family four-pack for $50. Tickets can be purchased online at www.okanagansymphony.com or by calling 250.862.2867.
