Kanye West thinks the Grammy Awards are "a joke."
The 'Only One' hitmaker insists he had no intention of ruining Beck's special moment at the star-studded ceremony last Sunday (02.08.15) despite storming towards the stage after the 44-year-old singer won Album of the Year instead of Beyoncé, but says the "voices in my head told me to go up" because it's hard for him "not to be very true and vocal" about his feelings.
He explained: "You know, what I really wanted to do is just joke around with what had happened before [with Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs]. So I just walked back down because, you know, it was kind of a joke, like the Grammys themselves."
The 37-year-old rapper also claims his subsequent comments that Beck should "respect artistry" and give his award to Beyoncé "came off the wrong way" because he thinks the 'Loser' hitmaker is "one of the nicest guys and one of the most respected musicians in the game."
He told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show: "I was asked my opinion and I was given a platform. And when given a platform, it's very hard, as we know -- and I'm going to talk in third person like I'm a crazy person -- but it's very hard for Kanye West to not be very true and vocal to what he feels."
But the 'New Slaves' hitmaker, who is married to Kim Kardashian West, believes he told the truth and made everyone feel better.
He said: "The weird thing is -- and I don't feel like I have the right to take away from people's moments, but the reality of it is -- it's almost like a chiropractor. You know, you just get a little crook out, like, 'Wow, this crook has been there!' It's just a little jolt of truth, right?"
