Tracy Morgan hits back at Walmart

Tracy Morgan insists he is not responsible for the life threatening injuries he sustained in a car crash.

The former '30 Rock' star has hit back at Walmart for suggesting he wasn't wearing a seatbelt when one of the company's trucks smashed into the limo bus in which he was traveling in with friends in New Jersey in June.

In a statement on Tuesday (09.30.14), the 45-year-old comedian, who suffered a broken femur, broken nose and broken ribs during the crash, said: "I can't believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused.

"My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I'm fighting hard every day to get back."

The company stated in court on Monday (09.29.14) that Tracy's injuries "were caused, in whole or in part, by plaintiffs' failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device."

The actor, who spent 10 days in a critical condition in hospital, still "has a long way to go" before he fully recovers from the six-vehicle accident, which also killed his comedy writer friend James McNair.

Tracy's assistant Jeffrey Millea, his wife Krista Millea and comedian Ardie Fuqua are also suing for negligence, and Krista is suing for loss of consortium.

The group are seeking compensatory and statutory damages, punitive damages, legal fees, as well as pre- and post judgment interest at a trial by jury.
