Charlize Theron says Google feels like 'rape'

Charlize Theron claims she feels like she is being "raped" if she Googles herself.

The 'A Million Ways To Die In The West' actress, who has an adopted two-year-old son Jackson and is dating Sean Penn, refuses to type her name into the online search engine as she finds the results violating.

The 38-year-old star told the UK's Sky News: "I don't do that, so that's my saving grace. When you start living in that world, and doing that, you start I guess feeling raped."

Asked if she really felt that strongly about the issue, she said: "Well, you know when it comes to your son and your private life. Maybe that's just me. Some people might relish all that stuff but there are certain things in my life that I think of as very sacred and I am very protective over them.

"I don't always win that war but as long as I don't have to see that stuff or read that stuff or hear that stuff then I can live with my head in a clear space, which is probably a lot healthier than living in that dark room."

The Oscar-winner's controversial comments have angered many of her fans, who lashed into her on Twitter for making the comparison.

Katie Russell from Rape Crisis England and Wales also told the MailOnline: "To us, it is always disappointing when someone high profile uses that language and turns sexual violence into a metaphor for something else."

She added: "It's particularly disappointing in this case because Charlize Theron has campaigned against sexual violence before."

The blonde beauty's comments come just days after Gwyneth Paltrow's compared being famous to being in a "bloody, dehumanizing" war.

'Twilight Saga' star Kristen Stewart, 24, apologized after making similar remarks to Charlize in 2010.
