Amanda Bynes won't be prosecuted for bong incident

Amanda Bynes' outstanding criminal charges will be dismissed if she stays out of trouble.

The 27-year-old actress, who was recently discharged from treatment for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, won't be punished for allegedly throwing a marijuana bong out the window of her apartment in New York City last May if she continues outpatient therapy for the next six months.

A law enforcement source told gossip website TMZ.com that the court case will be resolved on Friday (01.10.14) and Amanda, who was charged with attempted evidence tampering, reckless endangerment and marijuana possession stemming from the incident, will not be required to enter a plea.

The case is expected to be put on ice and the charges will be formally dismissed if she stays on the straight and narrow until the end of June, and the case will then be sealed.

The 'Easy A' star reportedly threw a bong out the window in front of her arresting officers after her neighbors complained that she was smoking drugs in the building but Amanda previously denied any wrong-doing and claimed it was only a flower pot.

The glass from the bong was only retrieved a few days later and had been contaminated by the weather so there was no proof that it was the same item thrown by the actress.

Before seeking professional help, Amanda also escaped charges for setting a small fire outside an elderly woman's home in Los Angeles in July because police believed her actions were rooted in mental illness and prosecutors viewed her conduct as non-criminal.
