The first trailer for the Oscars has hit the web!
In this Funny or Die bit, actors Josh Duhamel and Megan Fox are paired together as agents trekking around the world to find ‘The Host’.
Of course, ‘The Host’ is Oscars’ veteran Billy Crystal, who stepped up to take over the hosting duties of the 84th Academy Awards, airing on Sunday February 26th. You may recall that Eddie Murphy and Brett Ratner backed out due to Ratner’s misuse of a racial slur.
This will be the ninth time Crystal has hosted the Oscars, and the trailer is an attempt (a pretty good one I might add) to draw in a younger demographic to the awards show.
Also appearing in the trailer is Vinnie Jones, and Robin Williams as a Mongolian Boatman!
‘SATC’ Series Looking for Young Carrie
The CW is currently casting for the prequel to the ‘Sex and the City’ series.
‘The Carrie Dairies’ follows Carrie in her teenage years as a senior in high school during the early 80’s, and is based on a set of books written by the same author as ‘SATC’, Candace Bushnell.
The series is looking for a lesser known actress to take on the role of a “quirky, charming, witty 16 year old, with a complete lack of knowledge about love, sex and relationships.”
Did any of us know anything about relationships at 16? I don’t know anything now, even at 34!
Carrie will have a growing sense of fashion (really, you don’t say!) and will be dealing with the recent death of her mother.
Possible young starlets being tossed into the ring to take over the coveted role: Elizabeth Olsen (little sister to Mary Kate and Ashley, who had a pretty good year with ‘Marsha Marcy May Marlene’), Emma Roberts and Sara Paxton (‘Shark Night’).
The face of female mixed martial arts, Gina Carano, has not stepped foot in a ring since her disastrous fight against Brazilian fighter Cristiane Santos back in 2009, however the girl has been finding numerous ways to keep herself busy!
Carano has since done some work on ‘American Gladiators’, loaned out her skills to ‘Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3’, and on Friday January 20th, will lead her own action thriller in Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Haywire’!
Early reviews have been very positive, and with Carano’s a** kicking performance being praised, she may have found herself a new career!
Carano plays Mallory Kane, a highly trained operative working for the government as a security contractor in the most dangerous areas of the world.
After freeing a Chinese journalist being held hostage, she is double crossed by someone close to her and is now on the run from some very skilled assassins!
The supporting cast includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Fassbender, and Channing Tatum.
