Louis CK gives big money to charity

Comedian Louis C.K. decided that instead of going the route of selling his newest comedy special - ‘Live at the Beacon Theatre’ - to the networks, he would cut out the middle men and sell the special on his website for only $5 bucks!

It seems to have worked out in his favor as within a matter of days, he managed to make around a million dollars…  which he promptly gave half of to charities and staff, using the other half to cover the production costs of the special, since he financed it himself.

"I've never had a million dollars all at once. ... I felt uncomfortable about having that much money," he mentioned in response to giving away the dough.

Smart move!

C.K. has sold the special to around 220,000 people thus far and the numbers keep going up!

The charities he has given to so far include The Fistula Foundation, Green Chimneys, Pablove, Kiva, and Charity Water.

He will also be giving out $250,000 in bonus to his staff!  Happy Holidays!

The comedian used his connections to promote the special, appearing on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ and ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’, as well as appearing on ABC’s ‘Nightline’.

The success of this little experiment is encouraging the comedian to try future projects in the same fashion, but said in a joking statement to his fans, "Of course I reserve the right to go back on all of this and sign a massive deal with a company that pays me fat coin and charges you straight up the a**."

Hopefully there will be others that follow C.K.’s inspiring lead!

‘Modern Family’ Thriller Trailer

This remix trailer is hilarious…  and a little bit scary!

If you are fan of the Wednesday night sitcom ‘Modern Family’, you know that the middle child, Alex (Ariel Winter) is the genius in the family, the responsible one.  This trailer however cuts the show’s clips in a way that questions: is Alex actually an insane serial killer?

Think about it... her family has basically driven her to the point of insanity!

Jamie Foxx and Tyler Perry Being Sued for Stealing Terrible Movie Plot

A prisoner who claims to have had the idea for Jamie Foxx and Tyler Perry’s new comedy, affectionately entitled ‘Skank Robbers’, is suing the two for a cool million each!

The comedy is about three (men dressed as) woman bank robbers: Martin Lawrence’s character Sheneneh from his show ‘Martin’, Foxx’s character Wanda from ‘In Living Color’ and Perry’s character Madea.

All I have to ask is why!!?  Why is this even an issue?

The prisoner is currently serving time in Oklahoma for 10 bank robberies and is filing suit saying that he gave Foxx and Perry the idea (?) for the project, for which they cut him out!

The only difference from the prisoner’s idea though is that the setting for the three characters was supposed to be in a mental hospital (which is actually where those characters should be) and not bank robbers at all.

Oh yeah, and that the film was to be a drama instead of a comedy!  Ok, really, that premise is funny all on its own!

The prisoner is also suing Fox Broadcasting and the producer, David Zuckerman, for a total of $4 million.

The thing is though, both Foxx and Martin did a sketch of ‘Skank Robbers’ back in 2009 at the BET awards, which aired a full month before the prisoner apparently pitched his idea….

Prometheus

Not much has been released in the way of an official synopsis for Ridley Scott’s upcoming, back-to-his-roots alien flick ‘Prometheus’ (a reference to the Greek titan who stole fire from Zeus and gave it the mortals) and the project up until recently has been quite hush-hush.

Scott’s own vague statement about the project a while back: “Prometheus is the story of creation, the gods and the man who stood against them.”  Gee, that doesn’t really give us much to go on!

A new logline has popped up on the Prometheus Facebook page though, which is still pretty vague. It does however give a tiny bit more information, saying that it is “a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe.  There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.”

The film is supposed to explore the meaning of the human existence and the purpose behind the creation of life, and toy with the idea that what we previously thought of as ‘gods’ were actually an advanced alien race – which I’m sure will probably outrage a few people!

It also sounds like the show on the history channel ‘Ancient Aliens’, which ironically is produced by a company called ‘Prometheus Entertainment’…  hmmmm!

‘Prometheus’ stars Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce and Ben Foster and will be released in theaters June 8th, 2012.
