CRIME: BREAK AND ENTERS

DATE: October 27, 2012

RCMP FILE: 2012-60192

There have been several home break and enters in West Kelowna recently. One of the thefts was to a home with an absentee homeowner on the 2500 block of Butt Road. When the alarm went and police attended, it was discovered that the suspect had gained entry by using a piece of re-bar to break a basement window under the sun deck. The suspect rifled through some kitchen drawers and then broke into a locked bathroom door to gain entry to the locked master bedroom. Drawers in the bedroom were rummaged through and a fanny pack containing $500 cash was stolen along with a small tin of loose change. A call to the detachment was made a couple of days later describing a man who had entered a carport on nearby Springer Road. A stocky male wearing a gray jacket and a gray baseball cap unscrewed a security light, checked out the deck and left the area. This suspect may be related to the break-ins.
