CRIME: ATTEMPTED BREAK AND ENTER

DATE: June 11, 2012

RCMP FILE: 2012-29117

An attempted break and enter was called in to Lake Country RCMP on June 11, 2012 at 4:15 PM. A door on a detached garage at a property on the 9800 block of Chase Road was smashed open, but nothing was stolen. The residents believe that the suspect was spooked by the return of one of the family members.

CRIME: STREET RACING

RCMP FILE: 2012-29568

An incident of street racing was reported to Lake Country RCMP just before 7:00 PM on June 14. A witness watched as an older black pickup truck and a light crew cab pickup departed Reiswig Park and raced northbound to the Highway 97 area. Motorists should be reminded that not only is street racing dangerous to other motorists and pedestrians, the fines range from $368 for speeders driving more than 40 kmh over the posted limit to $483 for driving more than 60 kmh over the limit. Both of these infractions warrant an immediate 7 day impoundment, driver’s license penalty points and an ICBC premium increase.
