On Thursday May 31 at approximately 4:20 a.m., a Kelowna RCMP officer observed smoke and flames emanating from St. Michaels Church in the 600 block of Sutherland Avenue. The fire department was called immediately and, as a result, there was only minor damage to the building. Evidence suggests that an accelerant was used.

CRIME: ROBBERY

On Friday morning, August 31st, shortly after midnight, Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a robbery having occurred on McCurdy Road near Highway 97 North in Rutland.

A person delivering pizza at an address on McCurdy Road was approached by two males who had waited in the bushes at the location. One of these males brandished a chain and the victim was asked for his money. The victim threw his wallet and pizzas and was chased down McCurdy Road by the males, who then returned to the victim’s vehicle and drove it a short distance before abandoning it and fleeing the scene.

The first suspect is described as a Caucasian male with dark hair, wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. The second suspect is described as a Caucasian male, also wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. One of the suspects was in possession of a chain.

Stolen is the victim’s wallet containing an undisclosed amount of cash, credit cards, I.D. and two pizzas.
