CRIME: Armed Robbery at Pheasant & Quail Beer & Wine Store
DATE: April 21, 2006

With a handgun and what appeared to be bear spray, two men robbed the Pheasant and Quail beer and wine store on Lakeshore Road. It happened April 21 around 10:50 p.m. The men wearing dark hoodies and balaclavas, grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

CRIME: Attempted Armed Robbery at Richter Street Mac’s

A would-be robber fled with his weapon after an employee at Mac’s Convenience Store thwarted his plan. On April 21 at 11:30 p.m., the suspect brandishing a pair of garden shears threatened an employee at the Richter Street location. When the clerk refused to hand over the cash, the suspect left the store. He is described as 40 years old, 5’ 9” tall with a slight build, short beard and was wearing a dark hoodie.

CRIME: Fraud at Farmer’s Fruit & Produce
DATE: April 23, 2006

She wasn’t smooth-talking, but this con-woman managed to chat her way into getting an extra 50 bucks. On April 23, as the suspect was purchasing products at the Farmer’s Fruit and Produce market, she pretended to have difficulty speaking due to a cold. This confused the employee who handed the suspect more money than she was owed. The suspect is described as 5’ 5”, 100 lbs., with mousey brown hair. She wore a red zip-up hoodie, black jeans and drove an older-model brown van with a stolen licence plate.

CRIME: Suspected Stolen Vehicle

A busted-up stolen vehicle was found April 22 on Beaver Lake Road between Main Street and Hwy. 97. The green Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer had been driven into a tree and had its windows smashed out.
