Unsolved crimes: Kelowna

CRIME:  CHEQUE FRAUD

DATE:    September 22, 2016

RCMP FILE:  2016-57361

A local bank contacted Kelowna RCMP on September 22nd to report a fraud that had recently occurred.  The bank employee advised that on September 20th a female opened an account at the bank using two pieces of ID with different last names, claiming one was a married name and the other was her maiden name.   The next day the woman attended the bank and deposited two cheques (later confirmed to be from a closed account).  The woman was able to withdraw some of the money before the account was frozen.  Police are looking to positively identify and locate this woman of interest.

CRIME:  BREAK AND ENTER

DATE:    September 17, 2016

RCMP FILE:  2016-56340

A commercial alarm was activated at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17th at a drywall supply business located on the 3300 block of Appaloosa Road in Kelowna.  When police attended they discovered one of the front glass doors smashed with nobody inside and nothing appeared to be missing.  Video surveillance was viewed and RCMP would like to identify this suspect wearing jeans, a hoodie, a leather coat and sunglasses who rode up on an electric bike.  The video shows the man approaching the business, going back to his bike for a tool and then smashing the window.  He enters the building for about a minute and exits empty-handed.
