CRIME: SHOPLIFTING

DATE: September 5, 2015

RCMP FILE: 2015-49650

On September 5th at approximately 4:30 a loss prevention officer at the Real Canadian Superstore on Baron Road observed a male hiding several grocery items on his person and exit the store. The officer stopped the man outside, where the man first denied the theft but then returned the merchandise, resisted arrest and took off. The man is described as a Caucasian man in his mid 30’s, approximately 6’ tall and weighing 200 pounds. He had brown hair and was wearing mostly all black: cargo shorts, t-shirt, sweater, hat and Nike shoes.

CRIME: ASSAULT

DATE: August 31, 2015

RCMP FILE: 2015-49462

Kelowna RCMP are asking for assistance seeking witnesses who may have watched an assault that occurred on August 31st at Ben Lee Park in Rutland. Around 8:30 a.m. a man was stopped with his bicycle near the skate park when 4 youth (approximately 15 or 16 years old) jumped him from behind, pushing him forward to the ground shattering his knee cap. Two of the youth kicked him twice and when he screamed they left…with the victim’s bike and backpack that contained food, clothes, money, a cell phone and three bottles of prescription medicine. The two youth that executed the assault were Caucasian; one had shoulder length blond hair and was wearing white sunglasses. The second was wearing a blue windbreaker, sunglasses and had short brown hair. The remaining two youth did not take part in the assault – one was First Nations and one was Hispanic or South Asian. All of the suspects wore hats.
