CRIME: ARSONS

DATE: May 16-18, 2015

RCMP FILE: 2015-23843/24247

There have been two additional arson cases reported in the past week in Lake Country. At 12:53 PM on May 16th RCMP Dispatch received a report of a grass fire at the end of Sherman Drive near Copper Hill Road. Police members found a large fire behind Peter Greer School which appeared to be intentionally set.

At 4:25 AM on May 18th a man living on the 10,000 block of Okanagan Centre Road East looked out his window and saw a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. A 1998 Chevy Silverado parked in an orchard had been set on fire. The vehicle fire was quickly extinguished by Lake Country Fire Department.

CRIME: MISCHIEF / ROBBERY

Police in Lake Country received complaints of a group of youths throwing rocks at vehicles from the southbound side of the Pelmewash Parkway area between Winfield and Oyama late at night on May 11th. One incident was reported at 11:00 PM when a man sustained some chips in his window and car. At 11:30 PM another man reported that he had been hit through the driver side window of his vehicle which resulted in minor injuries to his head. When he pulled over to inspect the damage he was approached by two men with wrenches who robbed him of some cash before they took off on foot across the highway heading north. He described the men as in their late teens or early 20s, thin, wearing baseball caps and over-sized jeans. It is unknown if these two men were the rock throwers or if there are two different groups of suspects.
