CRIME: THEFT OF EXCAVATOR

DATE: October 29, 2014

RCMP FILE: 2014-60315

Somehow thieves were able to drive a trailer loaded with an excavator out of a locked fenced compound located on the 2600 block of Kyle Road in West Kelowna. The excavator was taken between October 23rd and 24th. The stolen machine is a yellow and black Caterpillar 305, equipped with 2 buckets and rubber tracks and valued at $75,000. Its serial number is CAT0305CTHWJ03158. The excavator was on a 2008 black Trail Pro flat deck trailer that had a tidy tank on the front. The trailer’s VIN is 2T9HC82758T166158 and bore BC licence plate number 15400C.

CRIME: ARSON

DATE: October 24, 2014

RCMP FILE: 2014-60166

West Kelowna Fire responded to a vehicle fire at an orchard off Elliott Road near Solar Road around 11:00 p.m. on October 24th. The fire began near the front of a white E350 cube truck (possibly in the engine compartment) and burned through the entire engine and cab, resulting in a total loss. Police dog services were called and a track was only able to be followed to the Old Okanagan Highway and Drought Road.
