Terryn shot the video she says, "Yeah it was pretty crazy. At the end you hear the steel fences, at the hospital for construction, being blown over."
Sara Regier, sent in a photo of the hail at her place in Quail Ridge near the Kelowna Airport.
"As I sat watching outside my patio door - the lightning lit up the room, the thunder was so close and the hail was as loud as can be! Cars still in tack and healthy. Me = 1, Storm = 0 Bring it on!"
ORIGINAL: The last storm to sweep over the Okanagan Valley was a a big one, far stronger and more destructive that Environment Canada had predicted. We shared with you about the multiple power outages and damage, and now you share some of your storm stories and more excellent photos with all of us:
“It was like a scene out of a war movie, from the west side I had a clear view across the lake to Kelowna/Mission. I sat out on my deck for around half an hour watching the lightening bounce across the sky, the thunder was almost continuous, and because the rain was so intense all you could see were flashes, and it looked like anti aircraft guns or bombs dropping out of the sky!” shares Steve Wraith who sent in some of his photos in the gallery below.
75-year-old Ron ‘The retired Brewery Worker’ says neither him nor his 7-year-old shitzu had ever seen a storm that bad.
“Hours after the storm I walked by the bathtub and something caught my eye. The storm had literally scared the s&%t out of Tuffy (the shitzu). The proof lay in the bathtub. We still wonder how on earth she managed to get in and out of the bathtub!”
And Ryan Lovelock was able to watch the whole storm right before his eyes.
“I managed to catch this lightning strike off of the deck of our house last night (photo above). The storm went on for about two hours between 1am and 3am over Kelowna and stretching down the east side of the lake as far as Penticton.”
