Cops cram cruiser for food bank
Members of the RCMP and and Lake Country citizens helped to fill the coffers of the lake Country Food Assistance Society over the weekend.
RCMP held their first annual 'Cram The Cruiser' event in front of Coopers Foods in Lake Country Saturday.
"We did very well - better than expected for a first annual event," says Cst. Jesse O'Donaghy with the Lake Country RCMP.
"We managed to raise 1,260 pounds of donated items, mainly non-perishable food and nearly $2,000 in cash and cheques for the Lake Country Food Assistance Society."
The event was so successful O'Donaghey says the cruiser had to make several trips.
"The holiday season tends to be harder on some families, and certainly harder on the food banks so it really makes a difference when you can provide that much needed boost when it matters most," says Cst O'Donaghey.
"To everyone that donated, thank you for helping make a difference."
Next year the Lake Country RCMP hopes to build on their success and once again bring some holiday cheer to the Lake Country Food Assistance Society's pantry.
