Injured, lost hunter found safe
A hunter, reported missing Sunday evening, has been located cold and wet, but safe.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) were called out to help search for the man who went missing Sunday evening in the Barge Lake area near Idabel Lake.
Apparently the man, an experienced hunter, failed to rendezvous with the rest of his group after a day of moose hunting.
COSAR dispatched 13 searchers who joined RCMP in looking for the individual.
He was found in an isolated wilderness location several hundred yards from the nearest road.
The man had suffered a head wound from a fall he sustained but was able to call out to responders as they ventured into the area.
He was able to walk with COSAR personnel to a staging area a few kilometres from where he was found.
"The subject has been examined by the BC Ambulance Service and is thought to be fine," says search manager, Paul Toupin.
This is the fourth time in a month COSAR have responded to a call to assist in locating a missing or injured hunter.
