UPDATE 4:30 p.m. Wednesday: As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the hunter that was reported missing in the Wilma Lake area has still not been located. There were forty search and rescue members out searching today and they will possibly be bringing in another SAR Team for tomorrow morning. The RCMP are continuing to assist with the helicopter as well as two Police Service Dogs.

Dozens of volunteer searchers from across the Okanagan are scouring the bush southeast of Vernon, looking for a 52-year-old hunter.

The Lake Country resident, whose name has not been released, did not return from a one-day outing on Saturday.

His truck was found on a remote logging road in a densely forested area earlier this week, but there have been no other signs.

Vernon Search and Rescue spokesman Pete Wise says the man could be injured or huddled somewhere and unable to respond to rescuers.

On Tuesday, a Vernon SAR official said the search would likely continue for one more day before being reassessed.

In addition to teams from Kamloops, Kelowna and several other Okanagan communities, specialized trackers, three dog teams and an RCMP helicopter are assigned to the search.
