Aug 22, 2012 / 4:30 pm
4:30 p.m. UPDATE: As of 4 p.m. Wednesday the wildfire burning along the ridge above Oyama Lake is 100% contained.
Forest Information Officer Micheala Swan says this doesn't mean the fire is completely out, however, a secure fireguard has been built completely around the fire.
She says smoke will still be visible tonight and into Thursday.
Helicopters remain at the scene bucketing.
Swan says a 37-person mop up crew will remain at the site tonight. A five-person contract crew will monitor the fire overnight before mop-up crews return Thursday morning.

11:00 am Update: 30 personnel are now on site at the wildfire burning above Oyama Lake.
"It is now at a Rank 2, with open flame, but it is calmer than it was this morning," says Fire Information Officer Michaela Swan.
"Air tankers have finished laying retardant around the fire and dozers are on site."
Swan says the fire is now estimated at nine hectares.
Two helicopters continue to action the blaze.

8 am. Story
The smoke in the hills above Oyama is a wildfire.
Fire Information Officer Michaela Swan says, "The fire is about 7 km east of Oyama, in the hills. We have 25 firefighters headed to the location."
Swan says the fire is not threatening any structures.
"It is approximately 3.5 hectares in size and we have requested air support." Swan adds, "We have a helicopter over the fire and it is quite agressive."
There were reports of lightning in the area last night.
We have a reporter headed to the scene and we will have more information as it becomes available.
