UPDATE 4:25 p.m. - Highway 97C has now re-opened to westbound traffic.

A traffic incident has closed Highway 97C westbound.

According to DriveBC, the highway is closed 1km west of the Loon Lake exit for what is said to be a medical emergency.

No word on when the route will re-open.

DriveBC says an assessment is in progress.

An update is expected at 4 p.m.
