Hwy. 97 reopens

Update -- Aug. 5, 11 a.m.

Two people were sent to hospital Monday night, following a multi-vehicle crash in Lake Country.

According to the Kelowna RCMP, witnesses say a white Cadillac was seen travelling northbound at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. It lost control on a curve and crossed into the oncoming lanes, where it impacted a Chevrolet Silverado hauling a trailer.

Both occupants of the Cadillac were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the passenger apparently suffered the more serious injuries.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, but alcohol has been ruled out.

A 24-year-old Alberta man could be charged with dangerous driving, pending further investigation.
