Hwy 97 moving along

UPDATE 7:00 P.M.

After a seemingly endless stream of traffic slowed much of Hwy. 97 to a crawl today, everyone is moving along once again.

What appeared to be a mass exodus of visitors, tourists and music festival guests had traffic between Peachland and as far up as Sicamous backed up for most of the day.

Certain areas of the highway slowed down to a mere crawl, especially around Kelowna, Vernon and Enderby.

There were no major accidents reported but highway users noted several fender benders along the way.

Emergency officials attribute the slow traffic to the mass amount of highway users.

Anyone using Highway 97 today may have noticed it was slow moving and heavily congested.

Peachland Fire Department said there have been no accidents on the highway as far as they know, but it simply appears to be a mass exodus of tourists, many from Boonstock Music Festival, heading home.

There was also a wildfire near Peachland that may have attracted some attention from highway drivers.

Some reports were that traffic was slowed all the way from Kelowna to Greata Ranch.

Readers are also telling Castanet that traffic is backed up from Armstrong through Enderby as well.
