Man escapes burning wreck

A man and his pets are lucky to be alive after the vehicle he was in burst into flames after it crashed on Big White Road Friday night.

Witnesses report the man was driving down from Big White, at around 9:15, when he swerved to avoid some deer. He lost control of his vehicle and it crashed upside down into a ditch.

The driver was able to crawl out with his two dogs before his car was consumed by the ensuing fire.

Big White Fire and BC Ambulance attended.

The firefighters were able to stop the blaze from spreading to the dry grass and bushes lining the ditch.

More details to follow.
