Wildfire near Oyama

Updated 10 a.m.

Lake Country Fire Department says the fire was put out by sun down last night.

It was contained to a half hectare and appears to be human caused.

Crews are returning this morning to make sure no hot spots remain.

A small fire has broken out in the hills near Oyama.

It was reported just before 7 p.m. and provincial wildfire control is aware of it. Kayla Pepper with the Kamloops Fire Centre said there is a three person initial attack team on the ground assisting Oyama Fire Department with the blaze.

The fire is currently estimated at half a hectare in size.

Jennifer Madsen who co-owns Oyama Zipline said she was a little worried about the blaze because if the wind shifted it could come towards her home and business.
